Cyber Essentials Plus is a government-backed and industry-supported scheme that helps businesses protect themselves against the growing threat of cyber attacks and provides a clear statement of the basic controls organisations should have in place to protect themselves.
It is the UK Government’s answer to a safer internet space for organisations of all sizes, across all sectors. Developed and operated by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), Cyber Essentials is considered the best first step to a more secure network, protecting you from 80% of the most basic cyber security breaches.
Gaining Cyber Essentials Plus is a further certification that enables Spinwell to showcase our credentials as trustworthy and secure when it comes to cyber security.
The certification defines a focused set of controls which provide clear guidance on basic cyber security for organisations of all sizes and offers a sound foundation. Cyber Essentials Plus has the approach of Cyber Essentials but offers the additional layer of assurance of a hands-on technical 3rd Party audit of our systems by an experienced cyber security assessor. This examines the same FIVE basic security controls as the Cyber Essentials certification and test how effective they have been implemented through a robust technical audit.
There are nearly 6 million people of working age in the UK who are disabled or have a health condition. Overall, the estimated percentage of the population who are disabled is around 19%.
Historically there has been a large gap between the numbers of disabled people employed compared with non-disabled people. In September 2015 the employment rate for non-disabled people was 81% whilst that for disabled people was 46% – giving an ‘employment gap’ of around 35%. More detailed statistics are to be found in Disability Facts and Figures from the Department for Works and Pensions (DWP) and Office Disability Issues.
Disability Confident is a government scheme designed to encourage employers to recruit and retain disabled people and those with health conditions. It has replaced the previous Two Ticks Positive About Disabled People scheme.
Part of the rationale for the Disability Confident scheme includes the desire to halve the disability employment gap by mobilising employers to retain or recruit disabled people. The role of the DWP is to support disabled people and those with a long-term health condition into, or back into, work.
Spinwell is committed to being a disability Confident Employer as part of its Diversity, Inclusion and Equality Policy and is proud to support this government Scheme.
Earthly helps companies invest in nature through high quality nature-based solutions that remove carbon, restore biodiversity and improve livelihoods.
Spinwell is accredited as Net Zero by Earthly. Our latest ISO Accreditation is ISO14001. This was taken to show our candidates, clients and staff, our commitment to improving our environment beyond our Carbon Reduction Plan and our Carbon Offsetting initiatives.
ISO 14001 provides requirements with guidance for use that relate to environmental management systems. Other standards in the family focus on specific approaches such as audits, communications, labelling and life cycle analysis, as well as environmental challenges such as climate change.
The ISO 14000 family of standards are developed by ISO Technical Committee ISO/TC 207 and its various subcommittees. For a full list of published standards in the family see their standards catalogue.
ISO 14001 on environmental management systems (EMS) is the only standard in the ISO 14000 family that can be certified to. It maps out a framework that a company or organization can follow to set up an effective EMS.
Designed for any type of organization, regardless of its activity or sector, it can provide assurance to company management and employees as well as external stakeholders that environmental impact is being measured and improved.
There are more than 500,000 certifications to ISO 14001 in over 180 countries around the world.
Spinwell are a company driven by the need to improve where ever and whenever we can. ISO 9001 encapsulates “Continuous Improvement” as part of its central tenets, something we strive to accomplish every day at Spinwell. Our search for excellence and customer experience meant that this was one of the first ISO standards we set our sights on.
ISO 9001 is defined as the international standard that specifies requirements for a quality management system (QMS). Organizations use the standard to demonstrate the ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements. It is the most popular standard in the ISO 9000 series and the only standard in the series to which organizations can certify.
ISO 9001 was first published in 1987 by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), an international agency composed of the national standards bodies of more than 160 countries. The current version of ISO 9001 was released in September 2015.
ISO 9001 is based on the plan-do-check-act methodology and provides a process-oriented approach to documenting and reviewing the structure, responsibilities, and procedures required to achieve effective quality management in an organization. Specific sections of the standard contain information on many topics, such as:
Changes introduced in the 2015 ISO 9001 revision are intended to ensure that ISO 9001 continues to adapt to the changing environments in which organizations operate. Some of the key updates in ISO 9001:2015 include:
As a company with a wealth of data as part of our purview, much of it sensitive, ISO 27001 seemed to be a good fit with our organization, along with Cyber Essentials Plus. This ISO has formed the backbone of our security and as a result we have been granted recognition as part of our commitment to Data protection
ISO 27001 is the standard created by the International Organisation for Standardization (ISO) which deals with Information Security Management. It is a way of making sure that you are managing information security risks and data effectively.
The ISO 27001 standard helps organisations to establish and maintain an effective Information Security Management System (ISMS), using a continual improvement approach. You will systematically assess any risks to the organisation’s information security and put in place policies and procedures to manage those risks.
ISO 27001 doesn’t just help organisations to take care of essential data; it also demonstrates that they are taking their customer’s security concerns seriously.
That’s because ISO 27001 encourages a proactive, rather than reactive, attitude to information security risks. With your ISMS in place, you can anticipate and prevent cyber security threats before they strike, reassuring both potential and existing customers that you have a much better chance of staying one step ahead of any risks to their sensitive information.
Because ISO 27001 is an internationally-recognised standard when it comes to information security, it is particularly credible when tendering for public sector or large company work. ISO 27001 gives you a marketing edge over your competitors, putting your head and shoulders above your rivals and proving that you take a more serious and sensible attitude to information security.
We at Spinwell take our Motto very seriously. “Clients, Candidates, community” is more of a Mantra. We are a people-centric company so ISO 45003 was an easy choice. This ISO takes in Psychological Health & Safety in the Work Place. With it, we look after both our staff and those we interact with through our Mental Health First Aiders.
This new ISO Standard has been developed by the International Organisation of Standardisation so that organisations can identify the conditions, circumstances and workplace demands that may have the potential to impair the psychological health and well-being of workers.
ISO 45003 therefore contains a set of detailed guidelines that aim to give employers practical help on how to manage psychosocial risk in the workplace. This helps organisations to develop a structure that allows them to identify primary risk factors and assess them to discover what changes can improve their working environment.

Spinwell is committed to the Living Wage as a responsible employer. Living Wage accreditation is one of many ways we demonstrate our commitment to going beyond what is required by Law, but rather do what’s right for our employees. By paying the real Living Wage, Spinwell is voluntarily taking a stand to ensure their employees can earn a wage which is enough to live on. That basic fairness is at the heart of what the Living Wage campaign is trying to achieve and why great businesses and organisations choose to go further than the government minimum. As well as it being the right thing to do, there is a growing body of evidence demonstrating the business benefits of becoming a Living Wage Employer.
Accredited employers like Spinwell display the Living Wage Employer Mark to recognise their commitment to the Living Wage. This includes a plaque, merchandise and digital assets to demonstrate that they are a responsible employer to their staff and networks. We are audited annually to confirm our commitment.
